Friday5. Yep, I actually managed to remember to link this time, without having to 'edit'.

1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?

Romance books. Silly, I know. It's just happily ever after appeals to me right now, even if it is non-existent. Plus, they're not all the sappy mushy things everyone imagines. The good ones aren't anyway. They're funny, comical, and some can make you cry cause the writer's that good. Sadly, I have yet to find a non-romance author that has made me cry.

2. What is your favorite novel?

Hmmm...Romance? Probably "Heaven, Texas" by S.E. Phillips (I think it was her..). Or, trashy don't-tell-mom-I-read-this romance... Fascinated, by Beatrice Small, Susan Johnson, someone else, and Robin Schone. Non romance...umm.... Alas Babylon by Pat Frank, maybe. Not sure.

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)

Nope. I'm not really into poetry. Well, actually, I do like this one (I think it's hopeful), but I don't know who it's by:

Beautiful dreamer waken to me;
starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
sounds of the cruel world, heard in the day,
lulled by the moonlight all dashed away.

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?

Well, at first I've always wanted to read "Catcher in the Rye", but having read that, I wish I hadn't. It was the worst book I've ever read. Oh, sorry, back to the question... I'd like to read Jane Eyre. I don't know why, but it's just one I want to read.

5. What are you currently reading?

Umm, I dunno. I'm between books right now. Probably whatever I manage to dig out of my boxes that I have sitting around in my room. I have to read at night to fall asleep, so it has to be something to get my attention, which means that it has to be something I've never read before. That's hard to come by in my bookshelves. I'm always getting new books, but lately I've hit a lull and have read everything at least 4 times. sigh. But, yay! yesterday I found 3 books that I haven't read. Granted, I hadn't read them because I wasn't intrigued by the back cover/jacket thingy, but I'm desperate, so I'll read one of them tonight.

There ya go, F5. And it's still Friday, for 23 more minutes :)

It's the ducky template :) I like rubber duckies. I never had one when I was little, so I guess this is me making up for it now with this template, lol. I like it anyway. :)

Oh, and a really really really big thanks to Sarah, from Blog Frocks. She really helped me on the template (besides being creator of the template). :)

So.....what's new..... I don't know. I haven't been doing much of anything really, besides exercising. Exercising my butt off, hopefully :p I've been chatting. And... yep, that's about it. School too, of course. But I'm actually kind of glad my so-called schedule isn't very chaotic right now, after all, spring is right around the corner (And sheesh I wish it would hurry up!) so I'll be super-impossibly busy then. Working for my dad. And, once Spring has sprung, I'm going to get my license. Or at the very least, I'll get my permit again. I have to get my permit before my license obviously, but I don't know how long I'll keep the permit before I get the license since I've already done the mandatory 6 months. So, yep, it's good to have a break. I might as well enjoy it while I can.

My neighbor Bill is in the hospital right now :( He's 74. He called us up at 4am this morning and told my dad he was having really bad chest pains, so bad that they woke him up. So, my dad called the ambulance, and they took Bill to the hospital. We're dog-sitting. His dog, Pudgy, is staying with us until he gets back. We're not sure when the hospital's going to let him out, maybe tomorrow but maybe not. They know it was definetly something with his heart, but they're not sure if it was a heart attack or not. So, they're running tests. Bill's doing fine though, he's already called 3 times just because he was bored and going (to quote bill) "stir crazy". He keeps saying they'll probably let him out tomorrow, but we doubt it since they didn't get the test results back yet or anything. So, until then, we're a 2 dog family. Having 2 dogs is really different than having just 1. I mean, not that I mind watching Pudgy for Bill, I don't mind at all. But it's really weird tripping over 2 dogs. It's like no matter where you go there's a dog underfoot. Lol. And Pudgy is so much littler than Gidget! Pudgy could walk right underneath Gidget without touching her. He does, in fact. Lol.

Well, I smell Spaghetti, so I'm going to go eat.

Is anyone actually reading this? If so....COMMENT PLEASE! oh, and also, when you comment, say you want a new template. Cause this one is boring me, and getting changed soon. I have a rubber ducky template, I might use it. IF I can get it to work. grrr.

I'm doing well on my exercise routine. I walk a mile, do some leg/yoga things, lift cans for like 10-25 mins (depends how tired I get, lol), and do 10 situps. I don't think I lost any weight, but soon :) I'm just glad to know I actually can walk a mile, for awhile I doubted even that. :)

Anyway, yes, so, comment, please :)

Take the test, by Emily.

I dunno, but I liked the thought of being a tomatoe, even though I don't like tomatoes. So, those are my results, so if you want you can take the quiz and tell me what you are.

My Gallery link over on the left (underneath the tagboard) is now an actual link! TaDa!!! Yep, so now you can go there if you want to see my sketches. Don't expect much though, they're not too good. Just fun. lol

Friday, February 21, 2003

I'm back. It was fun.

Wouldn't it be boring if I just left it at that? Well, there's not too many details that would make it interesting either way.

Umm, ok, first day we got there... we hung out at the hotel, and went swimming. They had a non-heated (cold) indoor pool, along with a wonderfully warm/hot whirlpool. The only stupid thing is, we didn't see the timer to make the whirlpool jets turn on, so we were just sitting there in the hot water with a little bit of bubbles coming up from the heater. As we're leaving a guy comes in and turns a dial that makes the jets go full force. grrr, where was he earlier? We went out to a Wegman's store to get some cereal and lunchmeat for breakfast and lunch on Thursday. Did you ever go to a Wegmans? They're (well, the one we went to anyway) HUGE!!!! And ugly. I didn't like the look they were striving for, which was old fashionedish. It just didn't work, who wants fake dried out looking flowers hanging over where they buy their bread? Anyway, that's what we did (besides unpacking) the first night.

Thursday was spent by me going to my testing at 11:30. I got there about... 11:25 (I didn't want to be too early, since all I had to do was take the elevator down one floor). There was already about 15 kids there. So, I took my seat, got ready, etc. I had 60 minutes to write one essay, based on a topic (called prompt actually) that they gave us. The first prompt was "name something challenging that you've been successful in overcoming" or something like that. So I said about my school, since that was what was on my mind first thing. lol. It was only like maybe 900 words long. Probably not much more than that. Then after that 60 mins. (i was done in 40, so I was just sitting there for 20 mins. boring) it was time for the second prompt. Same 60 mins. The second prompt was something like "your school district is thinking of taking away extra curricular activities, some people are for the activities, some people are against them, state your opinion and try to persuade the school board to vote in your opinion" I wrote a little over a page, and had like 15 mins to spare on that one. Then the very last one, she said as soon as we were done with it we could leave. It was "your principal is designing a new high school, and wants some students input. explain some features/rooms/etc that you would like to see and why". I rushed through it, it was maybe 3/4 of the page. But it only took me like 20 minutes, and i was out of there by 2:30 when actually it was supposed to be scheduled to take us till 3 - 3:15. I didn't care, my hand was really cramped, I'm not used to actually writing (besides scribbling barely legible notes) since my school's all online I just type up everything. But this test we had to actually write, and I tried to make my printing readable, so it strained my hand a little. Plus my hand was still sore because of shoveling, lol.
After the test we went out. We went to Pizza Hut. We usually have a pretty good time at Pizza Hut, even if the food isn't always the best.

Today was a whirlwind. Packing, then we went to a major mall that we had never been to (but I didn't like it, it was too 'preppy' for me, it had all huge name brands, like Gap and Abercrombie, etc). From the mall we went to a museum, that was pretty cool. Except, my complaint about the museum is that they had 3 art sections blocked off so we couldn't go see them. We paid $19 to get in and actually left feeling like we didn't get our money's worth cause they failed to mention that we had 2 whole art sections of the museum that we couldn't see. From what I could see of them they looked pretty cool too. :(

But, all in all, my trip was fun, but I'm really really glad to be home.

I HATE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I just can't say that with enough emphasis. It's such a pain. Our roads are completely blocked, our cars/truck are covered, and it's just an all around pain in the butt. My city got 24? inches, I think. I dunno, that was the last total I heard, around 3 o'clock or so. I have a picture of my car, buried, I might post that later. Once I find it, lol. I think the pic is on mom's computer, so I have to transfer it and yadda yadda yadda.

Our 'vacation' (with quotes, because everyone else is calling it a vacation, but I don't consider it one because I'll actually be doing school and stuff) has been pushed off by a day. It was supposed to be that we leave on Tuesday (tomorrow), I take my test Wednesday, and then we come home on Thursday. Now, they pushed the test off till Thursday, so... Now we leave Wednesday, test Thursday, and come home on Friday. I don't really mind though, it's better than trying to risk it with traveling in the snow. Plus, not only did they move my test back a day, but they pushed it up a few hours to give people time to arrive. Instead of it starting at 9:30am, it starts at 11:30, which is much better. :) Granted, instead of getting done at like 2:30 we won't get done until around 4:30 or 5. But I'd rather finish later than get up early, lol.

You may (or may not have) noticed that my template was messed up earlier. I don't know why, but it was. And so I just put up an old blue/yellow template, and then later put this one back up again. All is fixed now, I think. And now I'm using haloscan and enetation comments... but I'll delete the enetation as soon as haloscan gets back working. But until then, I have both in my source/code, so if 2 links show up before I delete enetation, feel free to comment using either one, lol.

This might be my last blog before I leave, I'm not sure. It all just depends. Everything is so up in the air right now. But, I made myself a list of things to take with, lol. It's a long list. If I remembered where I put it, I would post it, but since I don't... I can't. I think it's upstairs in my room somewhere, but with me you never know. lol. :p
Well, enjoy the snow.

Sunday, February 16, 2003

hoover wanted me to tell you that she blogged. and that she has a new template, that she coded herself :)

Friday, February 14, 2003

Well..... there's still a few kinks in it, but for now, this template is done! Is the orange too hard to read? Oh, yea, and I can't figure out how/why my comments aren't working and how to fix them, soo.... if you have comments you can just put them in the tagboard for now. :( Until I figure it out, anyway. Oh yea, forgot to mention... the "Gallery" over there <--- will eventually be made into a link to some of my drawings. That is, if I keep this template around long enough to actually get some scanned :p

hoover (my sis) blogged. About time, eh? She has a new template too.

And, that's just gonna have to be my blog for now, short (and sweet?). Oh yea...

Happy Valentines Day/Night!!!!!

1. Explain why you started to journal/blog.

Because I liked Amanda and Bree's blogs, and I thought I'd give it a shot. Glad I did, it's fun :)

2. Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?

My sister hoover (I would link her, but she never blogs anyway) reads it occasionally. My mom doesn't really, neither do my dad or bro. But that's ok, I'd rather them not read it. :p

3. Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?

Besides babbling? nope.

4. What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?

Ummm.... I dunno. Hopefully I'll stop blogging about what my day has been like thus far, cause that tends to get boring to read probably. More rants, I guess.

5. Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.

Arue, Mystic, Hall, Bree, alan. And Mario is a close 6th. Actually, I think that's the only 6 blogs I do visit regularly. hmph.

~~~
added later: Oops, I forgot to put a link to the Friday Five. I always do that. I always have to come in and 'edit'. Yea well, as long as its up before anyone else caught it. So, there ya go, my F5 for this week
Wednesday, February 12, 2003
Ok, I had a whole blog about to be posted about what I dislike intensly in people. But I decided that it didn't really make sense, not the thoughts behind it but the actual wording of the blog. I'm not feeling very word-smart right now. So, I deleted it. Sorry. But it's probably better this way.
Today we rented 3 movies. 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', and 'Ultimate X' (no, not a porn X movie, but the X-games, extreme sports highlights). We watched all of them, with the exception of the last half of Ultimate X because my dad (who isn't really into the Xgames like my mom and I are) said he wanted to watch a real movie, not just clips, so we put on Sweet Home Alabama instead. Good movies, all around. Nothing totally spetacular, in my opinion. I like Reese Witherspoon as an actress, but I don't think the movie deserved all the props it was given. Yea well, that's why I'm not a movie critic I guess. ;)
So, that's all I really have to say, I'll work on a good Long rant for tomorrow, possibly friday.
Tuesday, February 11, 2003
I'm doing better, with my exercise and water and all.
Yesterday I did my yoga/walking, and since I wasn't sore I did it again today, and it seems to be getting easier with each day I do it, so that's good :)
I'm drinking a TON of water. LOTS. Here's what I did so far... Sunday the 9th I drank 91oz of water...on the 10th I drank 117oz, and today I drank (so far, and it's only 7pm) I drank 91oz. I'm shooting for at least 91oz a day. Quite a jump from 0 to 91oz. I'm proud of me, lol. I didn't honestly think I could do it, since I NEVER drank water, and only ever drank soda. I thought I needed the caffiene, but it really hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Sometimes I wish for a nice cold icy glass of Pepsi, but then I end up drinking a really cold glass of water and it tastes fine so... I'll stick with it for now. :)
Well, besides being kinda freaked out from watching the news and hearing about the possibly-coming attacks on the US, the walking/yoga/water has been my life recently. That and chatrooms, lol. Oh! I forgot to mention...
I've been getting like 'Bs' and 'B- or +s' in my science (well, Human Anatomy & Physiology) class. Since there was only 5or6 questions on the assignments, if I got 1 question wrong it took it to a B or B- or B+. It's like 20% per question. Anyway, I got a C- then on my chapter test. I voluntarily told mom to expect a not-so-great grade on my 'report card' for this quarter. She kinda freaked. She said if I do actually get a bad grade on the report card, I won't be able to go on Messengers, Chatrooms, talk to my friend Felby, and I won't be able to read other people's blogs. She'll let me keep blogging (I guess as a scheme so I don't get extremely mad), just won't be able to read other people's blogs. grrrrrrrrrrr I can't even work harder to bring up my grade, because the teacher's already graded, and I've done, all the assignments. I won't even find out the report card grade till Friday at least. Grrrrrrrrr.
Sunday, February 09, 2003
So, I promised a blog.
Ok, so..... (bear with me, I'm having trouble putting thoughts together)
The very latest news is that I'm looking for a new template for this. You didn't really think it would last till the 14th, did you? I didn't, and I was right :)
Umm...second oldest news is....I'm really really sore. lol. Yesterday I did this yoga thing for 15 minutes, then I walked on our treadmil for 20 minutes (that's only a little over a half mile), and today I'm really sore. My legs, specifcally. Yea well. I'm taking today off, then tomorrow it's back to the yoga/walking.
I finished all of my schoolwork for this quarter :) Now I'm done school till the 12th. Well, there is assignments for me to do, but none of them are due by the 12th, so there's not a huge rush on them.
I'm cutting down on caffiene. Namely, soda. I didn't have any today. And for the past 2 days I only had 2 glasses a day. But today, I'm surving without any. I'm trying to drink water. And eat less. And exercise more. And drink Tons of water. All part of my major plan, of losing at least 50lbs by October. I hope this works this time, because normally I get myself all psyched up over some exercise/diet plan, then after a couple days I get sore/bored with it, so I make up excuses not to do it. But I really do have to. So, I think I'm going to make myself a rule. If I don't exercise 2 days in a row (since some days you just need to give your muscles a break) I won't allow myself on the computer after 8pm. That might just kill me, and/or motivate me enough to keep doing it. I wonder if I have that sort of self-discipline, to not allow myself on the computer? I doubt it, lol. But either way, doubts and everything aside, I'm going to. Starting yesterday (which means I must exercise tomorrow). : )
These :) smiley faces get addicting. I'm so used to using them in IMs, that when I'm not instant messaging I just automatically put one. Almost like I expect to see a grinning yellow smiley face pop up at me. hehe.
My mom got this book on Palmistry. Well, we've had it for awhile, I even read part of it once, but we've just recently rediscovered it. I'm not sure if I believe in it or not. It's possible I guess. According to what my mom read, I'm going to have 3 marriages, one when I'm younger and the other 2 when I'm older, and lots and lots of kids. And I have a strong love line---which I guess is good, considering I will have 3 marriages... Lol.
I've been going into the chatroom (yahoo study group 1) every night around 8 or 9 and staying in there till about 1am. that's 5 hours! Sorry, that just struck me right now, that it's 5 hours in a chatroom. That's kinda pathetic. Yea well. It's fun, and it's not like I never leave my computer, I do get up. And it's a lot of fun usually. If you ignore the perverts. Anyway, I go up to bed around 1, and then I read in bed until about 2, and then I go to sleep until 8/8:30. I find I'm less cranky and I have more energy if I only sleep 6 hours. Well, sometimes I have to take an afternoon 10 minute nap, but usually I have more energy after only 6 hours sleep.
Ok, this was random blogging, I just blogged whatever popped into my head... and looking back over it, my head is quite messed up :\ lol
Saturday, February 08, 2003
Ooops! I forgot to link it the first time, so I'm editing :)
And now....the moment you've all been waiting for....the one.....the only (to my knowledge)......
*Saaaaaaaaaturrrrdaaaay Scruuuuuuuuplllllllllllllesssss!
You're going out-of-town for a month and won't be using your new car. do you offer it to a friend who needs one?
Depends. on a variety of things. How much I trust my friend. How much I love my car. How good my insurance is. How good their past driving record (that I know of--I wouldn't investigate someone) is. I wouldn't just offer my car, but if they ask, I might let them, it depends.
Your agent helped you when you were struggling. Now a large agency with powerful connections wants you. Do you dump your agent?
Umm, I don't think I would. Probably not. I'm so talented I won't need a high power agent, haha ;) What kind of agent is it anyway?
The environmentally friendly laundry detergent costs two dollars more than the regular brand. Do you buy it?
Depends. I'm allergic to a lot of detergents, so it would depend on if I am or not to that one. Also, I don't buy the detergent. Plus, it would depend if I had the extra $2. I mean, yea, if I could, I would.
*Saturday Scruples, for those who couldn't see past my booming announcer voice*
I'm cheating, I know. So, I'll blog later or tomorrow, and fill everyone in on what I've been doing (since I know you all really want to know). Nothing spetacular though, but, I have been doing 'stuff'. So...till tomorrow/tonight, adios....
Thursday, February 06, 2003
Ok, I'm bored, and since it's been awhile since I blogged, here's the Thursday Thumb Twiddlers
1. You're filing an expense report at work, and there are some items that you know you can fudge for an extra $5 or $10, without chance of being caught. Do you? What if you've done things for your employer in the past that you weren't compensated for?
Nope, I wouldn't steal. Chances are, if I felt I was being wronged (or not comesated for something) in the past, and I wanted compensation for it, I would have asked for it back then.
2. You're reading something on a controversial topic that flies in the face of what you believe is true, but which has some interesting points to it that you didn't consider before. Do you keep reading?
Of course. Just because I don't think something is true, doesn't mean I won't read it if I think they actually might have valid points
3. What do you want the most? What if you knew you couldn't get it, no matter what you did?
What do I want the most.... right now? A HERSHEY'S chocolate bar. Barring that, no war. I just don't see how saying "we're going to attack you, even though we know you have nukes" is going to solve anything. sigh. But I doubt it'll happen, so I guess I just close my eyes, cross my fingers, and pray for the best. sigh.
Ok, wasn't much of a blog, but that's all I'm doing for now, maybe more later, sorry.
Saturday, February 01, 2003
Blogger wasn't working for me earlier, so earlier while I was still in the mood to blog, I typed it all down in Wordpad to copy/paste here:
You suspect another parent at a co-op daycare of stealing $20 from your coat. This person is made treasurer. Do you alert the board?
Yes, of course. Why not? It's my money that I would pay into the day care that is in potential danger, why not report the parent? I mean, no, you don't have to be all "She/he did it!" and freak everyone out, but you could just express your concerns. How you got to the conclusion that it was that parent taking the money out of your coat, and that you just wanted to make them aware. Then if they choose to keep the person on as treasurer you at least know that they'll be keeping an eye on him/her.
You're well-to-do. Your children, ages 24 and 26, ask you to settle part of their inheritance now. Do you?
No. This was on Dr. Phil the other day, or something like it anyway. I think the kids should have to deal with not having money unless they make it for themselves. The only reason I could see is if someone's life is in dire danger, or if it's used for education like it was on Gilmore Girls. Otherwise, I'd want my kids to have the pride of knowing that they can stand on their own two (four) feet, and they don't need my money.
You've accepted a date to a movie when someone you really like asks you to a concert on the same night. Do you try to get out of the first date?
Why would I have accepted the date to the movie if I didn't really like that guy? That's confusing. But I guess this is one of those things you see on tv, someone agrees to go with someone else, and then someone hot/popular asks right after they had already agreed. If that were the case, no. I still wouldn't. Cause that would be horribly mean. I can't help but think how I would feel if that happened to me... "Oh I'm sorry Heather, but I have to break our date to the movie because I'm going to the concert with so-and-so instead" I mean, that would be bad. Plus, I would imagine it would really give you bad karma too, and you'd probably lose a friend. Not worth it, in my opinion.
Well, there's the Saturday Scruples
I went to Walmart the other day :) Yesterday, actually. lol. We got a digital camera! :) It's an HP PhotoSmart 620. Oh, and we got fish! 3 fish. 2 black with white stripe/dots Angelfish, and a bottom-sucker that looks like a shark. They're all really cool looking. Mom has them in the bathroom, since her bathroom is all decorated in the ocean/fish theme. Poor fish. We still need to name them though... so if you have any good fish names let me know : )
